BUIES CREEK, N.C. – The Radford men's soccer program fell in a close one Friday evening in their season opener against Campbell with a 2-1 final.

In the first half, the Campbell offense was able to break through within the first 10 minutes of action. The Highlanders responded with de Bruin's first goal as a Highlander to tie it up within a minute of the Camels' scoring. Radford and Campbell traded off a couple of shots but the scoreline remained at 1-1 heading into the half.
In the second half, the Highlanders and Camels were locked in a back-and-forth affair from the whistle. Alex Eydelman's three saves in the half alongside the Highlander defense held off the Campbell offense to keep the score tied at 1-1.
However, in the 86th minute of the contest, a Campbell attacker just managed to find an opening in the Highlander defense and notch a goal top center to give Campbell the 2-1 victory.

The Highlanders return to action this upcoming week for two away matches. Radford will travel down to Elon on Monday, August 26th and head back on the road to Old Dominion on Sunday, September 1st.
