NORFOLK, Va. – The Radford men's soccer program dropped a close road match Monday morning at Old Dominion with a 1-0 final.

PLAY BY PLAY
In the first half of the contest, it was a defensive battle as neither squad was able to find any chances for the first 16 minutes. But at the 17th minute mark, Old Dominion was able to fire off a volley about 30 yards from the goal and just managed to squeeze it by giving the Monarchs the early lead.
The Highlanders, however, created two dangerous chances deep into the Old Dominion half but were unable to secure the equalizer and would find themselves trailing 1-0 at the break.
After an extended rain delay that didn't see the match start back up until Monday, the Highlander offense got off to an aggressive start getting two shots off within the first five minutes of the half. Radford continued with the pressure on the Monarch defense throughout the half with the best chance at goal coming from Cesar Rubio-Amaya, who narrowly missed the equalizer.
Even with the Highlanders being able to double their chances from the first half and limiting Old Dominion to just three shots, the scoreline would unfortunately remain 1-0 until the final whistle in favor of the Monarchs.
