  • Kirby Brown had some big makes in the early portion of each half finishing with 7 points and four rebounds.
  • Radford's defense stepped up big again today holding Presbyterian to under 30% shooting until the Blue Hose hit their final three shots of the game to pull up to 33%.
  • Every Highlander who checked into the game scored.
  • Radford's 24 made free throws were a season high led by Carlson who hit 8.
  • After hitting no three pointers in the first half, it was a pair of deep makes in the second half that helped Radford pulled away.

PLAY BY PLAY
Both defenses were on display early in Saturday's meeting with both teams being held to just a combined five points through three minutes. Three of those five points came from an and-one from Brown that put Radford ahead early.

For the final 4:28 of the opening quarter, Radford would go on an 11-0 run to open their first solid lead. Dandridge began the run with an and-one while Brown, Williams and Adelyn Traylor-Walker would join in to make it a 14-7 lead entering the second quarter.

A second chance layup from Carlson pushed the run to 13-0, but a Presbyterian bucket with 7:39 left in the half got the Blue Hose back on the board. Radford would respond with seven straight points from Carlson that helped pushed the lead to 23-9. The Blue Hose ended the half scoring 10 of the final 12 points, however, to keep things close at a 24-19 Radford advantage.

The run would continue into the second half as things tightened to just a 26-25 lead. Radford didn't waver, and broke out another impressive run to build their biggest lead of the afternoon. Free throws from Carlson started the run and it was Williams who made the first three-pointer from either side.

More free throws from Makayla Firebaugh as well as shots from Angelina Nice, Anna Stromberg and Adriana Shipp-Davis to close the quarter put Radford ahead 46-32. Makes from Taylor Napper and Dandridge would give Radford it's biggest lead of the day at 57-37 early in the fourth quarter. Presbyterian would go on a scoring run in the closing minutes, but Radford held on for the decisive 62-50 victory.
