Radford Falls Short in ACC Match With California

RADFORD, Va. – The Radford Men's Soccer program fell to California 6-1 for their final non-conference game of the season on Wednesday night.

KEY STATS
  • Felix Davies saw his first minutes of the season coming in during the second half for Ben Miller.
  • Radford's goalkeepers were busy having faced 28 shots from the Golden Bears.
  • Sam Amyx scored his first goal of the season and first goal as a Highlanders assisted by Jayce Pagano which was his first of the season.

PLAY BY PLAY
Opening play, California started out strong against the Highlanders scoring their first goal in the 14th minute. The Golden Bears would then add to their lead scoring goals in the 31st and 41st minute of the game to bring their lead to 3-0.

With time ticking down in the final minutes of the half, a pass to the top of the box by Pagano led to Amyx striking a long range shot which found its way past the keeper to score making a 4-1 deficit entering the half.

California extended their lead with two more goals over the final 45 minutes of play to defeat the Highlanders 6-1.
 
UP NEXT
Radford will now move back to conference play at Presbyterian in Clinton, SC Saturday, October 25th. Action will kick off at 4 p.m. and the game will be broadcast on ESPN+.
