Trio of Second Half Goals Downs Men’s Soccer at Winthrop

ROCK HILL, S.C. – The Radford men's soccer program conceded a trio of second half goals Saturday afternoon to fall in road action at Winthrop 3-1.

  • Lukas Kuca's second half goal was his first competing in Division I soccer.
  • Radford led the corner battle 11-6.
 
PLAY BY PLAY
Both Radford's and Winthrop's defenses held strong in the first half. Radford would have strong momentum leading to seven corners in the half. However, they could not capitalize on any of them, leading to the half deadlocked at 0-0.
 
Radford would open the second half with a goal from Kuca when he intercepted a pass from the back line, taking the ball past the goalkeeper to score for Radford to give them a 1-0 lead in the 47th minute. Winthrop would respond with a goal of their own in the 48th minute to bring the game back to level play, 1-1.
 
In the 82nd minute, Winthrop would then go on to score the winning goal to make the lead 2-1. Winthrop would add an insurance goal in the 86th minute to end the game 3-1.
 
UP NEXT
Radford will now turn their attention to face #20 Gardner-Webb at home Saturday, October 11th, for Senior Day. Action will kick off at 2 p.m. and the game will be broadcast on ESPN+.
