Radford Draws USC Upstate in Regular Season Finale

RADFORD, Va. – The Radford Men's Soccer program drew a 0-0 tie in their regular season finale against USC Upstate on Saturday afternoon.

KEY STATS
  • There was a total of seven yellow cards given out in the game with five given to Radford and two for USC Upstate
  • Ben Miller was challenged throughout the game with two big diving goals towards the end of the game
  • Lukas Kuca and Devin Conway were the two players who had a shot on goal for the Highlanders

PLAY BY PLAY
To start the game both teams would set the tone committing fouls that slowed the pace of play in the match. In the 27th minute, Kevin Habibelahy would be the first Highlander to have his name written down with a strong challenge. The Highlanders would continue to be physical with Jayce Pagano and Sam Amyx also receiving yellows.

A late corner kick by Upstate in the 43rd minute looked to cause problems. Radford's defenders would hold true, though, denying anything from the opportunity. USC Upstate and Radford would go into the half deadlocked 0-0.

The Highlanders would start the second half strong, with an opportunity to lead thanks to Kuca's shot which led to a corner in the 56th minute. Minutes later, more cards were given out for both squads as the physical theme continued. Play continued to be chippy as both the Spartans and Highlanders would receive the sixth and seventh yellow cards in the match.

As the final whistle blew, both Radford's and USC Upstate's defenses would hold on as the game finished in a 0-0 tie.

UP NEXT
The Highlanders will await the result of tonight's match of Winthrop at #8 High Point before knowing whether they've sealed a spot for the upcoming Big South Tournament. With a Winthrop loss, the Highlanders would advance into the 6th spot thanks to their 3-0-win against Longwood earlier in the season.
