Softball Falls in Finale of The Spring Games

LEESBURG, Fla. – The Radford softball program fell in their final game of The Spring Games Sunday morning in a 4-1 finish with Middle Tennessee.
 
Starting pitcher Abby Peace would toss a scoreless first inning for the Highlanders, but in the second inning Middle Tennessee would take advantage of some Radford errors to go ahead 2-0.
 
Natalie Jones would enter to pitch and would help keep the game within striking distance. After Middle Tennessee tacked on another run in the third, Radford got its first scoring opportunity in the fourth.
 
With two outs, Amanda Lee and Kara Van Beuge would record singles to put two runners in scoring position. Radford couldn't cash in, however, keeping the score at 3-0. Madison Sabo would also enter in relief starting in the fifth inning, allowing just one run over the final three innings.
 
With two outs in the fifth, Radford once again rallied. Isabel Harrison earned a bunt single and moved into scoring position thanks to an error. Rachel Smith would earn the RBI single to left, scoring Radford's lone run of the morning.
 
Radford would get another hit in the sixth from Abby Bossler, but the offense wasn't able to scratch across any more runs resulting in the 4-1 final.
 
UP NEXT
The Highlanders are currently scheduled to host Queens (NC) for a doubleheader on Tuesday, February 11th. First pitch is set for 2 p.m. with action streamed on ESPN+.
