RADFORD, Va. – The Radford women's lacrosse with a six-goal performance from Alyssa Yost, fell 11-16 in their season-opening game at home against George Mason on Sunday evening.

In the first period the Highlanders would find themselves down 0-1 within the first two minutes of the match. However, the Highlanders would make a swift response scoring from a free position shot by Mady Cheney to tie the game 1-1. A goal by Alyssa Yost would put the Highlanders up 2-1 and Molly O'Brien would add to the tally with another goal from a free position shot to make it 3-1 late in the period. But George Mason would find an opening in the final seconds of the period to cut the deficit to 3-2. The Patriots would tack on four more goals in the second period to give themselves the 6-3 lead heading into the half.
George Mason would make it a 7-3 game in the opening minutes of the third. Yost would bring the Patriot lead down to three after scoring her second career goal. George Mason would go on a two-goal run before Yost would snag her third of the game to make it a 9-5 game. The Patriots would add on three more in the final five minutes of the period, making it a 12-5 heading into the fourth.
Radford would have their best scoring period with six goals coming from the Highlanders in the period with three coming from Yost, but it wouldn't be enough as George Mason would walk away with four goals of their own in the period and see this game finish at 16-11 in favor of George Mason.
