TYSONS, Va. – The Radford baseball program used some more late game heroics to defeat Georgetown 6-4 in the series finale at Capital One Park on Sunday afternoon. With the victory, the Highlanders won the series against the Big East foe by a 2-1 margin for their fourth straight series victory.
It is the first time since the 2018 campaign that Radford has won four consecutive series.

- Seven different Radford student-athletes finished with at least one hit on the afternoon.
- To go with the strong offensive showing, the pitching and defense was just as good in yet another complete team win.
-
Andrew Steinhaus posted a quality start with six strong innings of work. He allowed just five hits and three runs (all earned) against to go with four strikeouts. It was his second quality start so far on the young season.
-
Mason Self picked up the win, his first of the season and of his career, as he came into the game and fired two scoreless frames out of the bullpen. He punched out three batters, didn't allow a hit and his only blemish was a single walk.
-
Trey Ludy notched his third save of the year as he closed out the ninth.
- The Highlander defense finished perfect with a 1.000 fielding percentage and zero errors.
HOW IT HAPPENED
- The Hoyas struck first with three runs in the bottom of the third to jump out to a 3-0 lead.
- Radford responded right back with a run of its own in the top of the fourth off a RBI single by McGovern to make it a 3-1 game.
- The Highlanders took the contest over with three runs in the top of the seventh to jump ahead by a 4-3 margin. A Ward RBI sacrifice fly was followed by a two-RBI knock by Sparrer to give Radford its first lead of the game.
- The Highlanders weren't done then as the squad added a run of insurance in both the top of the eighth (Perez RBI) and ninth (Toole sacrifice fly) to head into the final at-bats of the contest up 6-3.
- Georgetown homered once in the final frame, but Ludy and the Highlanders would work around the damage to seal the 6-4 win.
