Baseball falls in second game of series to HPU

RADFORD, Va. – The Radford baseball team found itself on the wrong side of a football score to High Point as the Panthers collected a 32-8 victory in game two of the Big South series at Sherman Carter Memorial Stadium on Saturday evening.

THE BASICS
FINAL SCORE: Radford – 8, High Point – 32
LOCATION: Sherman Carter Memorial Stadium (Radford, Virginia)
RECORDS: Radford 12-13 (3-2 Big South), HPU 19-8 (5-0 Big South)

THE BREAKDOWN
- Noah Toole had a big game with a 2-for-3 effort. His outing included two doubles, and he tied for the team lead with three RBI.
- Hunter Keen also drove in three runs off a 2-for-5 performance. He too blasted a double and came around to score once.
- Breckin Nace added to the Radford run total with a 3-for-6 showing at the dish. He drove in two runs to round out the scoring attack for the Highlanders
-  Jhonkeanu Perez (1-for-3, one double), Eli Hudgins (1-for-5, one double), Tyler Kehoe (1-for-4), Carter Richardson (1-for-3) and Matthew McGovern (one base on balls) all crossed the plate a single time each, respectively.
- As a team, Radford finished with 17 hits, six doubles and four walks. The squad also posted a .960 on-base plus slugging percentage.
- The 17 hits tied for the season best for the Highlanders. Radford has now accomplished the feat three times against High Point, Quinnipiac (February 22, 2025) and Mercyhurst (March 2, 2025).
- The six doubles set a season high outright for the Highlanders in the category.

HOW IT HAPPENED
- High Point struck again first with three runs right off the bat in the top of the first to take a 3-0 lead.
- Radford responded right back with a run of its own in the bottom half of the frame to make it 3-1.
- The Panthers kept it rolling with two more runs in the top of the second to push ahead 5-1.
- The Highlanders tried to make it a game once again with another run to match in the bottom of the inning as the contest sat at 5-2 in High Point's favor heading into the third.
- It was all Panthers from that point on as they cruised to the 32-8 win.
