GREENSBORO, N.C. – The Radford baseball team stumbled to open its series at UNC Greensboro as the Highlanders were on the wrong side of an 8-2 decision to start the three-game set at the UNCG Baseball Stadium on Friday afternoon.
THE BASICS
FINAL SCORE: Radford – 2, UNCG – 8

THE BREAKDOWN
- The middle of the Radford order continued to produce with
James Ward and
Breckin Nace leading the way with two hits apiece, respectively.
- Ward went 2-for-3 to go with the Highlanders lone RBI.
- Nace added a 2-for-4 effort along with a stolen base.
- Both
Jhonkeanu Perez (1-for-5) and
Brady Whitacre (1-for-3, one steal, one walk) came around to score for Radford.

Noah Toole also chipped in a stolen base.
HOW IT HAPPENED
- UNCG started out hot with four runs in the bottom of the second to take an early 4-0 lead.
- Radford started to battle back with a run of its own in the top of the fourth to make it a 4-1 game.
- The Spartans responded right back with a run in the bottom half of the frame to push their advantage back to 5-1.
- The Highlanders dropped another run in the top of the fifth to make it a game at 5-2.
- UNCG added three additional runs of insurance (two in the seventh and another in the eighth) to seal the 8-2 win.
