ASHEVILLE, N.C. – The Radford women's track & field program got the 2025 Big South Outdoor Championships started with a bang as the Highlanders claimed one bronze medal, two all-time best marks and numerous personal records on the opening night of competition at Karl Straus Track on Monday.

NOTABLES

Sienna Bailey took home the bronze with a standout performance in the 10,000-meter final. She dropped a personal best time of 36:22.51 to become the first Highlander to take to the podium. To make the performance even more special, it was her first run in the event for her collegiate career. The showing was also the third-best performance in the 10,000 in school history.
- For the first time since the 2018 campaign, Radford will have two student-athletes in the 200-meter final.
Jeylah Hamrick blazed the track in 24.74 and
Danae Niles was literally just behind at 24.73. Hamrick won her heat to earn the automatic qualifier while Niles finished with the top time for a non-heat winner to join her in the final round.

Jaslyne Robinson also punched her ticket to the 400-meter hurdle final as she came in fifth in the preliminary round with a personal record of 1:01.82. The showing improved her to third overall in the event in school history.

Kandace McIvor put on an absolute show in the heptathlon opening rounds. She finished second in the 100-meter hurdles (16.13), third in the 200-meter dash (26.71) and the shot put (9.89-meters, 29'-5.50") and sixth in the high jump (1.38-meters, 4'-6.25").
- McIvor also set a new personal record with a best leap of 5.19-meters (17'-0.50") to take ninth overall in the long jump final.

Mya Rosser placed ninth overall as well in the hammer throw final after she threw a personal best of 45.48-meters (149'-02").
NEXT UP
Radford will get right back to work with day two of the 2025 Big South Outdoor Championships on Tuesday, May 13. The field portion of the schedule will get underway for the Highlanders at 2 PM ET while the track slate will get started at 5:20 PM.
