Cabusao, Lewis, Magson and Gentzel Sweep Big South Weekly Awards List

CHARLOTTE, N.C. – The Big South Conference announced Wednesday afternoon that cross country student-athletes Azrael Cabusao, Mason Lewis, Sophie Magson and Cora Gentzel had all swept the weekly awards lists.

Marking his first weekly award from the Big South, Cabusao checks in as the men's Runner of the Week after nearly breaking the 6k record last week at the Virginia Tech Invite. His time of 18:40.4 as the Highlanders top-finisher would rank second all-time. Right behind him was the newcomer Lewis, who earned his first weekly award, being named the men's Freshman of the Week. His debut time with the Highlanders of 18:53.8 ranked fifth in program history.

On the women's side, Magson earns the fourth weekly award of her career, being named the conference's women's Runner of the Week. After breaking the program 4k record just one week prior, Magson broke it again at the Virginia Tech Invite with a time of 13:47.4 becoming the first Highlander to ever record a sub-14 minute 4k. Helping the Highlanders earn the team victory in the meet was the newcomer Gentzel who also recorded a program top-10 time with a time of 14:39.7.

The slew of weekly awards for the Highlanders is the second time in recent history that the program has taken home all four honors. The last time Radford took all four was during the 2022 season which Magson also featured in as a Runner of the Week.

The Highlanders will now turn their focus to preparations for their next meet on September 20th at the Lancer Pink Invitational in Farmville, Va.
