Simonsen Repeats as Big South Freshman of the Week

CHARLOTTE, N.C. – It's beginning to become a weekly occurrence. The Big South Conference announced earlier today that Radford's Georgia Simonsen is the Freshman of the Week for the period of December 23 – January 3.

Simonsen led the Highlanders in scoring to open Big South play, tying her career high with 15 points in each contest. She made a career-best five free throws against Presbyterian, while setting several career highs against Charleston Southern, including 28 minutes played and seven made field goals. Simonsen is the first Radford freshman since Joi Williams in 2023 to reach double figures in her first two Big South contests and just the third since at least the 2007-08 season.

The award is Simonsen's second in as many weekly award releases and third of the season. This is the fourth weekly award for Radford women's basketball this season and is already double their total from last season.

The Highlanders are back in action next Saturday, January 10, against the preseason Big South favorites, High Point. Tipoff is at 2:00 p.m. from the Qubein Center on ESPN+.
