ATHENS, Ga. – The Radford Men's Golf program finished play at the Southern Intercollegiate on Monday afternoon for a spring season high placement, tying for fourth place, led by Louie Stott and CJ Peterson's strong individual performances.
Due to weather concerns, the field had a shotgun start with Stott starting on the back nine. Stott had a stunning first nine, with him shooting four birdies and following up with another two on the back nine. This included shooting a birdie on the 16th. This had Stott in the 5th position going into the second round. Stott's second round couldn't equal his first, ending the day as 13th in the field but still leading the Highlanders overall.
Peterson was right there with Stott, finishing one stroke behind at +7 for 16th place and second among the Highlanders. Peterson was consistent across the tournament, shooting even on the front nine in the first round and three birdies on the day. Peterson continues to build on an impressive freshman campaign, emerging as a consistent bright spot for the team.
Kieran McCarthy's two rounds of play were good enough for 21st place on the day. McCarthy's first round of play was highlighted by an eagle on the par-five 479-yard hole. McCarthy followed up by shooting a birdie on the same hole in the second round and shooting another birdie on the 14th hole to end with two birdies in the tournament.
The final two Highlanders to compete were Will Giaquinto and Tate Corbett. Giaquinto would place 40th overall with four birdies across the two rounds of action. Corbett would round out the Highlanders' scorers with one birdie and placed 56th overall.
