Women’s Basketball Nets Four on College Sports Communicators Academic All-District Awards

RADFORD, Va. – College Sports Communicators announced Tuesday afternoon that four Radford women's basketball student-athletes including Kirah Dandridge, Cate Carlson, Anaiah Jenkins, and Angelina Nice have all been named to the Academic All-District for their dedication and performance both on the court and in the classroom.

To become eligible to earn the distinction, a student-athlete must be at least a sophomore, compete in 90 percent of the institution's games played or started in 66 percent of games, and have at least a 3.50 cumulative GPA. Only about three percent of all student-athletes at the Division I level are eligible to earn the award.

Kirah Dandridge, a senior who has played in every game and started most of them, joined Radford in her junior season after transferring from St. Bonaventure. The Richmond, Va. native has been a key player defensively with 58 steals this season and averaging 4.1 points a game. This spring, Dandridge will graduate with a Bachelor of Science degree in Sport Management and currently holds a 3.52 GPA. After college, she plans on moving to Nashville and pursue a career in sports photography.

Cate Carlson, a junior from Virginia Beach, Va., holds a 3.54 GPA as a Marketing major with a Sport Management minor. The guard has played in every game this season and averages the second-most minutes per game on the team. Carlson shoots at better than a 30 percent clip from behind the arc while also averaging 9.3 points per game. Her 20-point performance against Morehead State this past Friday helped the Highlanders reach the second round of the WNIT.

Anaiah Jenkins, a junior from Odenton, Md., boasts a 3.61 GPA as a Communication major with a minor in Photography. She has been a boost to both the Highlanders offense and defense off the bench this season after transferring in from Towson. Splitting time in the paint with freshman Georgia Simonsen, Jenkins has grabbed 159 rebounds, the second-most on the team. She also averages 5.8 points per game as one of the top scorers off the bench.

Angelina Nice, a sophomore from Round Hill, Va., holds a 3.96 GPA as a Marketing major. The guard has played in every game and averages 7.7 points per game. Nice has made 37 three-pointers and has scored double figures 11 times over the season. She received recognition on the Big South All-Academic Team this season. Nice ranks third on the team in rebounding and fourth in scoring.
