Men’s Golf Finishes Regular Season Play at the Wofford Invitational

SPARTANBURG, S.C. – The Radford Men's Golf program finished play at the Wofford Invitational in their final round of the regular season this week as Louie Stott and Will Giaquinto led the Highlanders in play.

Stott has been the top preforming Highlander the past two tournaments, as he continues to keep his form and lead the team. Stott's best play came in the first round of action as in the front nine shooting he shot three-under par and one-under on the day. Stott continued this form into the third-round shooting two-under on the back nine. However, some trouble on the eighth hole had him one-over par on the day. Stott finished in the top third of individual golfers, placing 35th.

After a disappointing round at the Cutter Creek Intercollegiate, Giaquinto found his footing as the second placing Highlander at 38^th overall in the Invitational. Giaquinto shined in the back nine of each round of play as he was consistent on the par five, 530 yard hole 15 having two birdies and one par across three rounds. Giaquinto was hot in the first round having five birdies and adding six more in the rest of the action for a tied team best of 11 overall.

Kieran McCarthy's back nine of the first round started off a little slower going 3-over in the first four holes. Two quick birdies followed by an impressive eagle in the par five, 510 yard hole 17 led to being even on the back nine. McCarthy used this momentum the next day with two birdies on holes one and four to be one over on the front nine. McCarthy finished the Invitational nine-over par and 46^th place overall as the senior looks to his final rounds as a Highlander in postseason play.

The Highlanders will now look towards postseason play as they travel to South Carolina to compete at the Big South Championship at Fripp Island Creek. Action will start on April 26^th with the final round of stroke play on April 28th and, should they advance in the top four, match play on April 29th.
