Radford Athletics Finishes 2025-26 Academic Year Strong with 3.45 Spring Term GPA

RADFORD, Va. – The almost 300 student-athletes that make up Radford University Athletics finished the academic year strong posting an overall department grade point average (GPA) of 3.45 during the Spring 2026 semester.

Fifteen of Radford's sixteen athletics program earned a 3.0 GPA or better, with 221 student-athletes earning a 3.0+, 154 earning a 3.5+, 109 earning a 3.75+ and an incredible 52 earning perfect 4.0 marks. Building off a successful Fall semester that saw the same 3.45 department mark, the Highlanders increased their total student-athletes earning both 3.75+ and 4.0+ GPAs.

"This spring term was an eventful one with over 60 student-athletes graduating, numerous community service activities and multiple awards given out at the Radford University and Big South Conference level," commented Associate Athletic Director for Student-Athlete Support Services Maggie Hinson. "I am incredibly proud of how hard Radford student-athletes work in the classroom. They go above and beyond the basic expectations and know the value of a college degree. We can't wait to get back to work with our returners and incoming class this August!"

On the women's side, the women's golf program (3.85 GPA) led the department once again followed by an impressive showing from the volleyball program (3.66 GPA). Radford's academic excellence ran deep for the women's sports as cross country (3.65 GPA), women's soccer (3.63 GPA), softball (3.6 GPA) and women's lacrosse (3.51 GPA) all achieved team marks over 3.5.

The men's golf program (3.79 GPA) boosted their previous Fall GPA by over 10 points and led the men's side of the department while posting the second-best GPA among all teams at Radford. The baseball program (3.4 GPA) finished their academic year strong with men's cross country and track and field (3.3 GPA) not far behind.

In Radford's eight sports that have completed their Winter and Spring seasons so far, student-athlete success came well-rewarded. Eight Highlanders earned all-academic nods including Angelina Nice (women's basketball), Brennan Rigsby Jr. (men's basketball), Leah Moye (women's indoor track and field), Liam McDonald (men's indoor track and field), Macy Johnson (women's golf), Kieran McCarthy (men's golf), Mady Cheney (women's lacrosse), and Amanda Lee (softball). Johnson earned her second straight Big South Scholar-Athlete of the Year nod, joining Hayat Khan who earned the award with men's cross country last Fall.
