RADFORD, Va. – College Sports Communicators (CSC) announced Tuesday afternoon that three Radford men's golf student-athletes including Kieran McCarthy, Louie Stott, and Tate Corbett have all been named to the Academic All-District team for their strong showings both on and off the field during the 2026 season.
To become eligible to earn the distinction, a student-athlete must be at least a sophomore and compete in a majority of the institution's tournaments played. Student-athletes also must have at least a 3.50 cumulative GPA. Only about three percent of student-athletes at the Division I level are eligible to earn the award.
McCarthy had a great year in his second season as a Highlander. He started the season on fire with two top three finishes including a showing at the 2025 Joe Feaganes Marshall Invitational where he led the Highlanders finishing second overall. In the very next tournament, the senior would place third overall at the Carolina Cup. McCarthy added two Big South Golfer of the Week awards this season. He has been just as good on the green as off with a strong academic record. McCarthy, who majored in Sport Management, had a great showing in the classroom with a perfect 4.0 GPA in his senior year. McCarthy also worked this year as a SAAC representative and had an internship with Athletics Compliance and SASS for the 2025-2026 academic year.
Stott was the lead golfer for the Highlanders this season as a senior. He placed as the team's top finisher across four different tournaments. Stott's best round of golf came at the Carolina Cup where he played a 67 with five birdies across the round and added an eagle on the 5th hole as well. Stott had an exceptional round of golf at the Elon Phenix Invitational too which saw the senior shoot five under par and finish the Invitational 11th out of 93 participates. Stott followed up these great performances with a great year in the books. The senior completed his undergraduate degree in Sport Management where Stott finished with a GPA of 3.51.
In his second year as a Highlander, Corbett had a good senior season to close out his career. Corbett had strong outings in the 2026 Cutter Creek Intercollegiate, ODU/Kilmarlic Intercollegiate, and Surf Club Invitational. However, Corbett's best round of play came at the Elon Phoenix Invitational which saw the senior shoot even as the team would end two under par. In the classroom Corbett would continue to work similar to his teammates to earn his degree in Sport Management with a 3.76 GPA.
