Men’s Golf Freshmen Goode and Leard Sweep Big South Weekly Awards

CHARLOTTE, N.C. – The Big South Conference announced Thursday afternoon that Radford men's golf freshmen David Goode (Golfer of the Week) and Jett Leard (Freshman of the Week) swept the conference's weekly awards list.
In just his second-ever event with the Highlanders, Goode took home the individual championship last weekend at the Bryan National Collegiate at 13-under. He was the first Highlander to earn an individual title since Bryce Corbett did so in 2024 and the first Highlander freshman to do so in over a decade. He improved over each round of the Collegiate, shooting two-under in round one, three-under in round two and an incredible eight-under in round three.
Helping the Highlanders claim the runner-up finish at the Bryan National Collegiate was fellow freshman Leard who played even over the three rounds to place tied for 16th individually. Leard was the third highest placing Highlander behind sophomore teammate CJ Peterson. His even play throughout bolstered the lineup as he played even on round one, one-under in round two and one-over in round three.
The duo of Highlanders have earned the first weekly awards for the team just two weeks into the season. Radford last swept the weekly awards just this past season when Kieran McCarthy and Peterson took home both awards on October 3rd, 2025.
Radford will look to carry the momentum into their next tournament this upcoming week. The team travels to compete in the Davidson Invitational which runs from September 21st through 22nd with live stats available through RadfordAthletics.com.
