Box Score

RADFORD, Va. – The Radford women's soccer team took their first conference loss of the season, letting a game get away from them in a 7-0 defeat to UNC Asheville on Wednesday night at Cupp Stadium.

KEY STATS

UNC Asheville scored in the 13^th minute and held a 1-0 lead before scoring twice in the final 10 minutes of the first half.
The Bulldogs outshot Radford 19-9 and had 11 shots on goal to Radford's four.
The seven-goal loss is the worst Big South loss in Radford women's soccer program history (since 1993). It is also the program's worse loss since falling 9-0 at North Carolina on October 26, 1995 (before Ben Sohrabi was head coach).

PLAY BY PLAY
With both teams coming off a huge win, the sense going into the contest was that it was a battle between two of the better teams in the Big South. UNC Asheville more than proved that tonight, although it took some time for the Bulldogs to pull away. Lili Adams found the Bulldogs' first goal on a shot from just outside the box, handling a pass from Alexandra Gib to make it 1-0 in the 13th minute.

Midway through the first half, the Highlanders logged their first shots on goal, as Ciaira Anderson and Brooke Pearson struck from distance. Their efforts proved to be easy enough for Phoenix London to save and keep it 1-0. Lilly Graumann scored next for the Bulldogs, with her shot getting across Lexi Radvanyi and tucking into the left post to make it a 2-0 game with under 10 minutes left before halftime. Manuela Schreier made it 3-0 shortly after, as she handled Alexa Francis' cross to go into the break with a comfortable lead.

Haley Garber replaced Radvanyi in goal, but the change in keeper was not enough for Radford to turn the tide. After a couple saves by Garber, Graumann scored for a second time to make it 4-0 in the 63rd minute. Adams joined Graumann with a brace, scoring in the 67th minute to make it 5-0. The Bulldogs put the proverbial whipped cream and cherry on top of their performance, scoring two more times in the final 10 minutes to make it a 7-0 final.

SOHRABI QUOTABLE
"UNC Asheville is a good team," began Sohrabi postgame. "We knew that when we came into this game. Give them a lot of credit. That being said, we have to show more effort. We have to be smarter. And we can't let a game get away from us like that. It's disappointing, but we have to move on to the next one."
