Attended Kellam High School in Virginia Beach, Va. Led by head coach Natalie Petroskey, she helped the Knights compile a 23-2 record during her final two seasons of play, including a region championship in 2021. Clay holds four-records at her high school…most points, most assists, most ground balls and most caused turnovers in a single season. A two-time MVP on her lacrosse team, she was also named as a USA Lacrosse All-American and was a recipient of the US Lacrosse Jackie Pitts Award.

The incoming midfielder was a year-round athlete in high school, as she played field hockey and basketball and also swam. She was tabbed as the MVP of the basketball team. Aside from lacrosse, Clay was inducted into the National Honor Society.
