Radford University Athletics

Matthew Maldonado joins Radford Athletics for the 2025-26 season as a Communications Coordinator, marking his first year in the role. Hired in October 2025, Maldonado will serve as the primary media contact for Men’s Golf, Men’s Soccer, and Baseball.

Prior to his time as a communications coordinator, Maldonado spent time interning with Radford’s ESPN+ broadcast team under the direction of Brian Yohe. Maldonado would branch out from the internship to start creating multimedia content for Radford’s Men’s and Women’s Basketball, Softball, Lacrosse, Volleyball, and Baseball programs working in both photography and cinematography.

In the summer of 2025, Maldonado further developed his skills while volunteering with the Pulaski River Turtles, where he created multimedia content for the team’s social media platforms. Maldonado also helped run the video and sound board with the Turtles.

A transfer student from Virginia Western Community College, Maldonado joined Radford University as a junior in 2023. He earned his Associate’s degree in business administration from Virginia Western in 2023 and graduated from Radford University in 2025 with a Bachelors in Sport Management and minor in Communications.
