Jamey Givens

Jamey Givens assumed the position of assistant coach for Radford women's basketball in April 2014.

In his role with the Highlanders, Givens serves as the scouting coordinator. His other primary duties include post player development, recruiting and academics.

It did not take long for Radford to reap the benefits of Givens' coaching. In his first season at RU, Givens developed two Highlanders into Big South all-freshman team selections. Janayla White led all Big South freshmen in rebounds per game and blocks per game, while Jayda Worthy led all Radford freshmen in scoring.

Givens came to RU following two seasons as the director of women's basketball operations for Wake Forest. He held the same position at UNC Greensboro for the 2011-12 season.

Prior to UNCG, Givens spent two seasons on Sue Semrau's staff at Florida State, assisting in all aspects of the program. He worked extensively with the Seminoles' post players, including 2010 WNBA first-round draft pick Jacinta Monroe and All-Atlantic Coast Conference first-teamer Cierra Bravard.

Before joining FSU's staff, Givens was a recruiting writer and publisher for ESPN's NoleInsider.com, primarily covering college football.

A native of Tallahassee, Fla., Givens completed work on a master's degree in sports administration from Florida State in 2011. He earned a bachelor's degree in communication studies from FSU in 2008, graduating cum laude.

Givens and his wife, Elisabeth, reside in Christiansburg.
