    Volunteer Assistant Women's Soccer Coach
Jon Freeman joined the Radford Women’s Soccer program as a volunteer assistant after spending the last three seasons as the head men’s soccer coach at Ashland University (Ohio).
 
The Blacksburg native and former Highlander men’s assistant returns to his stomping grounds after a successful three-year stint with the Eagles. Hired on April 14, 2010, Freeman guided them to a, 13-5-3 record,  No. 20 Div. II ranking and NCAA tournament appearance in 2010, which was highlighted by a GLIAC regular season title and the program first GLIAC Tournament championship.
 
Freeman came to Ashland after a year as the head men's soccer coach at Ferrum College (Va.).  Prior to taking over at Ferrum, Freeman was an assistant coach with the men's and women's soccer programs at Ashland (2004-2009).

As an assistant at AU, Freeman played a major part in recruiting the players who formed the nucleus of the men's teams that advanced to the NCAA playoffs in 2008 and 2009.  During his time at AU, the women's team won a GLIAC championship and advanced to the NCAA Elite Eight.  The AU men won the conference title in 2005.  Freeman worked with 23 players on the men's side who received All-GLIAC honors as well as four all-region players and one All-America.
 
Following a four-year playing career at College of Wooster, Freeman began his collegiate coach career as an assistant coach with the Radford men's soccer program (2000-2004), under the guidance of Spencer Smith.

The 2000 Wooster graduate, was a four-year letterman for the Scots and team captain in 1998.  During his career, he was honored as the squad's co-most valuable player and earned honorable mention All-North Coast Athletic Conference distinction.
 
Jon and his wife Dana, reside in Lexington, Va., where Dana is Washington & Lee's head women’s track & field coach.
