Women's Hoops Begins Holiday Trip at Towson Tuesday Night

Radford will begin its four-game eight-day holiday road trip on Tuesday night when it tips off against Towson at 7 p.m. The Highlanders are trying to pick up their first win of season after dropping their first two, including a 78-54 set back at Virginia Tech last Tuesday. The Tigers are coming off a 18-point win in their home opener on Saturday night against Davidson and are off to a 2-0 start under Radford alum Joe Mathews (1991).

Towson holds a 6-2 lead in the series, defeating Radford 65-57 last season, giving the Highlanders their lone non-conference home loss of the season. It also marked the first time the teams met in a non-conference game as the first seven contests took place when the Tigers were a member of the Big South (1992-95).

Last Tuesday, Radford fell at Virginia Tech, 78-54, from Cassell Coliseum. Juniors #Charron Leeper# (Cleveland Heights, Ohio/Shaw) and #Kymesha Alston# (Hampton, Va./Manhattan) each tallied a team high 11 points and game best eight rebounds. Senior #Johnette Walker# contributed with 11 points and a game high five steals.

Shanie Grey led four Hokies (2-0) in double figures with a game high 17 points on 5-of-8 shooting from the field and 7-of-9 from the free throw line. Lindsay Biggs added 15 points with eight rebounds and a game best six assists.
