KEY STORYLINES
Last Time Out: Needing a win to nab the No. 2 seed for the Big South Tournament, Radford held off a feisty Runnin' Bulldog squad 65-59 on Saturday afternoon at Paul Porter Arena. The victory also gave Radford their first 20-win season since the 2018-19 campaign. In a game that was close throughout, the Highlanders shut out Gardner-Webb over the final three minutes while going on a 7-0 run to close the game out. Simonsen was crucial in the victory, scoring eight points in the final quarter while also grabbing nine rebounds total. Williams hit three huge free throws to give Radford a two-point lead late. The junior finished with 18 points and five assists. Nice also had a big first half, making a career-high five three-pointers, three of which came in the second quarter.

Tourney Facts: Radford is the No. 2 seed for the first time since 2018. All time, Radford is 5-2 against CSU in the tournament. Their last matchup was in the 2017 semifinals (Radford won 53-50). Radford's last loss to CSU in the tournament was all the way back in 2001 (60-65 in quarterfinals). The Highlanders are 46-28 all-time in the Big South Tourney and 11-9 in the McGuire era (since 2013-14). Their last title and NCAA Tourney birth came in 2019, entering as the No. 1 seed (held at Dedmon Center).

Award Season: Four Highlanders received All-Big South awards, announced Tuesday afternoon by the conference. Georgia Simonsen was named Freshman of the Year, Mike McGuire received Co-Coach of the Year, Joi Williams earned first-team all-conference, and Angelina Nice was all-academic. Simonsen also received the final Big South Freshman of the Week award after scoring 20+ points in back-to-back games against Presbyterian and Gardner-Webb to finish the regular season. The full all-conference release can be found HERE.
