Women's Hoops Head Back Out on the Road; Face Mount St. Mary's on Saturday

Radford, playing its seventh road game of the young season, returns to the hardwood searching for its second straight victory when it travels to Mount St. Mary's for a Saturday afternoon tilt. The Highlanders (1-6) are coming off their first win of the season, a 78-58 triumph, in their home opener against Southern Virginia last Friday evening.

Senior Johnette Walker (Columbia, S.C./Irmo) paced Radford with a game-high 20 points, nine rebounds and a career best eight steals. She also recorded her 1,000th career point, becoming the 18th Highlander to do so. First year head coach Tajama Ngongba also picked up her first head coaching victory. Also chipping in offensively were sophomores Taleia Moton (Fort Washington, Md./Suitland), Kendra Porter (Jamestown, N.C./Dudley) and Ciara Hayes (Upper Marlboro, Md./Riverdale Baptist) with 15, 11 and 10 points respectively.

Mount St. Mary's is coming off a 66-59 home victory over Fairfield on Wednesday. The win snapped a three-game slide for the Mountaineers who evened their record to 4-4. Hassanah Oliver and Brianna Gauthier led four Mountaineers in double figures with 16 points apiece. Mary Dunn and Leah Westbrooks chipped in with 14 and 11 points, respectively.

This will be the eighth meeting between the schools with Mount St. Mary's holding a 5-2 advantage. The last time these team's met, Radford defeated the Mount, 69-62, on Nov. 21, 2003 in Emmitsburg. Both of the Highlanders' victories against the Mountaineers have come on the road.
