Johnette Walker (Columbia, S.C./Irmo) hit her 360th career free throw at the 6:17 mark of the second half to break the all-mark that was held by Kelli Tull (1996-00) and finished the game hitting 4-of-6.
Two free throws in the first half by sophomore
Taleia Moton (Fort Washington, Md./Suitland) at 12:54 cut Vanderbilt's lead to 12-6. However, the Commodores used a stifling defense, forcing seven turnovers, and holding the Highlanders scoreless for almost eight minutes. During that time, the Commodores scored 13 straight points to extend their lead to 25-6 at the 5:42 mark.
Junior
Kymesha Alston (Hampton, Va./Manhattan) scored a pair of buckets around two Vanderbilt freebees to make it 27-10. The Commodores scored 10 of the final 14 points to take a 37-14 lead into halftime. Pullen and sophomore
Kaylyn Crosier (South Charleston, W.Va./S. Charleston) hit jumpers for Radford during the final stretch.
Vanderbilt shot 44 percent from the field and it was led by Jessica Mooney and Hannah Tuomi with 10 and eight points respectively. Alston scored a team high six points and pulled down a half-best seven rebounds. The Commodores outrebounded the Highlanders, 23-12, including 11-3 on the offensive glass (11 second chance points). They also forced 17 Radford turnovers which led to 12 points.
In the second half, Pullen led the Highlanders with 10 points. The Highlanders shot 37 percent in the second half and finished the game at 32.5 percent. Moton and sophomore
Ciara Hayes (Upper Marlboro, Md./Riverdale Baptist) each chipped in with seven points.
Vandy shot 47 percent for the game and outrebounded Radford, 44-24. Mooney paced the Commodores with a game high 16 points. Chanell Chisholm and Tuomi finished with 13 and 10 points respectively.
This game concludes a four-game, eight-day road trip for the Highlanders. Radford will play its first home game of the season on Friday, Dec. 5 when it hosts Southern Virginia at 7 p.m. in Peters Hall Gymnasium.
