RADFORD, Va. -- Radford returns home for its final non-conference game of the season when it hosts American on Sunday afternoon. The Highlanders are looking to end a three-game slide after falling at Navy, 61-44, on Monday night. Radford jumped out to an early double-digit lead and led at halftime, but Navy came out strong in the second half and controlled play for the rest of the game. Senior Johnette Walker (Columbia, S.C./Irmo) and sophomore Taleia Moton (Fort Washington, Md./Suitland) each tallied a team-high 12 points.

Game Notes

American is coming off its first home loss of the season, 69-54 to Georgetown on Dec. 21 at Bender Arena. Liz Leer led the Eagles, who had their four-game winning streak snapped, with a 12-point, 13-rebound double-double and a team-best four assists.

This will be the second straight season these teams will face off. In the first ever meeting between the schools, Radford defeated American, 58-50, in Washington, D.C. on Dec. 22, 2007. Corrie Fertitta broke a 50-50 deadlock, draining a three with 1:34 left in the game propelling the Highlanders to the victory.
