Highlanders Travel to Winthrop for a 7 p.m. Monday Tip

Radford, playing its second of four straight Big South road games, heads to Rock Hill, S.C. for a matchup with Winthrop on Monday at 7 p.m. The Highlanders (2-11, 1-1 Big South) look to get back on the winning track and pick up their first road win of the season after suffering a 65-55 defeat at High Point Saturday. Senior Vandy Pullen (Arlington, Va./Maine) led Radford with a 14-point, 11-rebound double-double, the first of her career. Junior Kymesha Alston (Hampton, Va./Manhattan) pulled down a game and career-best 14 rebounds. The Highlanders are also seeking their 200th win in Big South regular season contests.

Winthrop is also looking to rebound from a home conference loss, 55-51, on Saturday to Liberty. The Eagles led by six points with just under five minutes to go, but the Flames went on a 14-4 run to pull out the come-from-behind 55-51 victory. Yvonne van Daalen, Shanice Cole and Jennifer Walker each scored 11 points for Winthrop.

This will be the 56th meeting with the Eagles, the most against any conference rival. After sweeping all three games last season, the Highlanders hold a commanding 49-6 lead in the series. Radford won the regular season contests by the scores of 65-57 and 67-54. In the Big South semifinals, the Highlanders won a defensive battle, 50-44 to advance to their second straight championship game.
