Volleyball Falls at Gardner-Webb, 3-0

BOILING SPRINGS, N.C. – Gardner-Webb connected on 32.5 percent of its attempts en route to a 3-0 (25-20, 25-18, 25-19) victory over Radford in Big South volleyball action Friday evening at Paul Porter Arena.

The setback drops the Highlanders to 11-15 and 1-8 in league play, while GWU improves to an identical overall mark and moves to 3-6 against conference foes.

Laura Waddell (Lynchburg, Va. / E.C. Glass) and Lauren Clary (Roanoke, Va. / Cave Spring) paced Radford with seven kills each, while Desiree Aramburu (Chicago, Ill./Mother McAuley) set up 26 of the Highlanders' 31 kills. Defensively, Clary and Katelyn Meeks (Richmond, Va./Mills Godwin) picked up double-digit digs contributing 13 and 12, respectively.

As a team, the Bulldogs finished with 50 kills, including 20 in the final game. To go along with its impressive hitting percentage, Gardner-Webb held the Highlanders to just a .173 clip.

Along with charting 10 digs, the Bulldogs' Molly Rhyne led all players with 15 kills (.387), while teammate Laura Wilcox finished with 14 on just 20 swings for a .650 hitting percentage. Regina Feagin led both setters with 46 assists for Gardner-Webb, while Brett Wilson added 17 digs.

Radford will continue its Big South schedule with a 2 p.m. tilt at first-place UNC Asheville Saturday afternoon.
