ASHEVILLE, N.C. – Despite a match-high 18 digs from sophomore
Katelyn Meeks (Richmond, Va. / Mills Godwin), Radford fell to first-place UNC Asheville 3-0 (25-21, 25-17, 25-18) in Big South volleyball action Saturday afternoon at the Justice Center.
The Highlanders have dropped eight of their last nine falling to 11-16 overall and 1-9 in the league, while UNCA improves to 19-7 and 8-1.
Megan McWhorter (Newport News, Va. / Peninsula Catholic) led Radford with nine kills. Junior
Laura Waddell (Lynchburg, Va. / E.C. Glass) finished with eight.
Kelsey Benorden and Lauren Flicker found the floor with double-digit kills for the Bulldogs, contributing 14 (.344) and 11 (.555), respectively. Setter Rachel Guinane recorded a match-high 37 assists, while Raquel Miotto picked up 17 digs for UNCA.
Along with outhitting the Highlanders .282 to .117, UNC Asheville finished with a 5-1 advantage in total blocks.
Radford will conclude its three-match swing away from home with a 7 p.m. contest at High Point Wednesday evening.
