Presbyterian Defeats Volleyball 3-1 in Regular Season Finale

CLINTON, S.C. – Presbyterian posted four players in double figures and connected on .357 of its attempts to defeat Radford 3-1 (25-10, 22-25, 26-24, 25-18) in both clubs' regular season finale Saturday afternoon at the Templeton Center.

Ineligible to compete in next week's Big South Volleyball Tournament (Nov. 19-21) hosted by Radford, the Blue Hose conclude their 2009 season 12-19 overall and 7-9 in league play, while the Highlanders fall to 12-20 and 2-14.

Despite the loss, freshman Emily Hayes (Bartlett, Ill./Bartlett) paced Radford with a .333 hitting percentage, finding the floor with seven of her 18 attempts. Two-time freshman of the week Desiree Aramburu (Chicago, Ill./Mother McAuley) set up 25 of Radford's 33 kills, while Katelyn Meeks (Richmond, Va./Mills Godwin) led the club defensively with 12 digs.

Senior Lauren Clary (Roanoke, Va./Cave Spring) led the Highlanders with nine kills.

Presley Mabrey (15), Lisa Shelley (14), Amanda Kettles (13) and Lindsey Harris (12) each hit the 10-kill plateau for the Blue Hose, who finished with 64 kills, 54 of which were set up by Kilee Ruppe. Presbyterian's Elizabeth Heineman led both clubs with 16 digs.

Along with outhitting the Highlanders .357 to .081, PC held a slim 8-7 edge in total blocks.

Radford's Carly Fleming (Manassas, Va./Osbourn Park) finished with a match-high six blocks.

Radford, which will be the eighth seed in next week's league tournament, will play in the final quarterfinal match at the Dedmon Center Thursday evening. Pairings and match times will be released late Saturday evening.
