DURHAM, N.C. –
Despite Art Parakhouski's (Minsk, Belarus) third straight double-double (23 points, 14 rebounds) to begin the 2009-10 season and 20th of his career, No. 8/9 Duke tied a school record with 18 three-pointers and placed five in double figures en route to a 104-67 victory over Radford Saturday at Cameron Indoor Stadium.

Parakhouski, who entered the Highlanders' first road tilt of the year averaging 25.5 points and 15.0 rebounds per contest, hit 8-of-19 attempts from the floor, while pulling down seven offensive rebounds and blocking three shots.

Along with the 6-11 center hitting the 20-point plateau for the third time in as many contests, senior Phillip Martin (Roanoke, Va./Roanoke Catholic) and freshman Blake Smith (Charlotte, N.C./United Faith Christian) also scored in double figures for Radford contributing 12 and 11, respectively.

“I feel great about our team,” commented Radford (2-1) head coach Brad Greenberg. “We have the potential to be very very good. I'm proud of our guys, and feel we competed hard for 40 minutes against a Top-10 team.”

Duke's backcourt trio of Nolan Smith (20), Andre Dawkins (20) and Jon Scheyer (18) combined for 58 points and 14 buckets from long range. Kyle Singler, who also knocked down three jumpers from behind the arc of his own, added 13 points, while Miles Plumlee recorded a double-double with 12 points and 11 boards.

Along with winning their 72nd straight non-conference contest at Cameron, the Blue Devils ended Radford's nine-game road winning streak, which was the second longest streak in the nation.

Duke (4-0), which led 59-34 at the break, also tied the Blue Devil standard for three-pointers in a half with 13, including four each from Smith and Dawkins.

After the Highlanders hit six of their first nine attempts and took a 13-10 lead on a Martin layup at the 15:28 mark, Duke responded with a 28-6 run highlighted by six treys to push the margin to double digits, where it would stay the rest of the way.

“Duke shot spectacular. They attacked our zone extremely well in the first half.”

As a team, Duke shot 56.3 percent (18-32) from downtown and assisted on 25 of its 35 buckets from the floor, including seven each from Smith, Scheyer and Singler.

Despite the loss, Radford pulled down 17 offensive rebounds.

Radford will enjoy an eight-day break before continuing its longest road swing (five games) of the 2009-10 campaign at Duquesne on Sunday, Nov. 29.
