RADFORD, Va. -- Radford continues its three-game homestand when it hosts “New River Valley” rival Virginia Tech Wednesday, Nov. 25 at 3 p.m. in the Dedmon Center. It will be Faculty/Staff Day with all Radford faculty and staff receiving two free tickets when presenting their RU I.D. card.

This is the 30th meeting between the schools with Virginia Tech holding a 20-9 lead in the series that dates back to the 1976-77 season. The Hokies have won eight of the last nine, including last season's 78-54 victory in Blacksburg. Radford's last win in the series, was a 67-60 triumph on Nov. 10, 2006 at Cassell Coliseum. The Highlanders last victory (81-64) in Dedmon was on Nov. 29, 1995.
Despite a furious second half comeback, Radford fell to Mount St. Mary's in its home opener, 52-49, Saturday evening from the Dedmon Center. The Highlanders trailed by 17 at halftime and was able to get within one possession in the second half, but their game-tying attempt at the buzzer fell short.

Brooke McElroy (Richmond, Va.) pulled down a career and game-high 13 rebounds against Mount St. Mary's. The transfer from Monmouth also scored her first points (6) in a Highlander uniform. Red-shirt senior
Kymesha Alston (Hampton, Va.) recorded her second straight double-double and 10th of her career against Mount St. Mary's.
Virginia Tech has begun the season splitting its first four games, winning both home contests against Longwood and George Mason and dropping both road tilts at VCU and James Madison. In their last game, the Hokies fell to the Dukes, 66-59 on Sunday afternoon. Utahya Drye and Alyssa Fenyn pace the Hokies, averaging 11.5 and 11.0 points per game respectively. Shanel Harrison (6.3) and Drye (5.8) lead VT on the glass.
