RADFORD, Va. –
Following a seven-day layoff, Radford resumes a stretch of five straight games on the road when the Highlanders travel to Duquesne on Sunday afternoon.

The Highlanders (2-1) are in the middle of their longest set of road games since a five-game swing during the 2003-04 season and look to get their success away from home back on track after having a nine-game road winning streak, the second-longest in the nation, snapped last Saturday afternoon at No. 8 Duke.

Sunday's matchup features two of the nation's top frontcourt performers: Radford's Art Parakhouski (Minsk, Belarus) and Duquesne's Damian Saunders. Parakhouski, the reigning Big South player of the week, is seventh in Division I with 24.7 points per game and second with 14.7 rebounds. Saunders, a 6-7 forward, leads the country in rebounds per game at 15.4 while averaging 17.4 points through five games.

Parakhouski controlled the glass in the last meeting between the Highlanders and Dukes by pulling down 20 boards, one shy of the school record, in Radford's 94-75 loss at Peters Hall last December. Radford out-rebounded the Dukes 50-30 but couldn't overcome Aaron Jackson's 36 points.

Three double-figure scorers from that game a year ago – Eric Evans, Bill Clark and Saunders, return for the Dukes.

Radford continues to benefit from key individual performances early. In addition to Parakhouski, Blake Smith (Charlotte, N.C./United Faith Christian) has been named Big South freshman of the week twice to open to campaign. Smith has scored in double figures in each of his first three collegiate games, including 11 points at Duke on Saturday. Joey Lynch-Flohr (Fairfax, Va./Fairfax) is contributing nearly a double-double per game (16.7 points, 9.3 rebounds) while shooting 82.4 percent (14 of 17) from the free throw line. The senior forward is fifth in the Big South in scoring and fourth in rebounding.

Duquesne holds a 4-1 series lead over Radford, including a 2-0 mark at the Palumbo Center. The Dukes and Highlanders last met there on Dec. 6, 1997, an 88-82 win for Duquesne.

Including its 52-50 win at Iowa in the CBE Classic on Nov. 17, Duquesne is 4-1 in 2009-10. The Dukes were picked to finish in a tie for fifth in the Atlantic 10's preseason poll.
