DAVIDSON, N.C. – Highlighted by five straight-set singles victories, No. 69 Radford defeated Davidson 6-1 in men's tennis action Sunday afternoon at the Knobloch Tennis Center.

The win was the second straight for the nationally-ranked Highlanders as they improve to 4-1 on the season, while Davidson falls to 1-3.

Among those recording singles triumphs for the Highlanders this afternoon were, Martin Sayer (Hong Kong / Sagemont Virtual School ), Ivan Salec (Oroslavje, Croatia / Oroslavje Secondary School), Mehdi Benhammou (Rabat, Morocco / Descartes), Igor Ogrizek (Daruvar, Croatia / Birotechnika Grammar School) and Zack Watson (Harrisonburg, Va. / Eastern Mennonite), who improved to 5-0 on the season with his win in the final match.

“I continue to put our team in tough situations playing on away courts that really give our opponents strong home court advantages and the boys simply respond by playing exceptional tennis,” commented Radford head coach Mike Anderson.

As it's done in four of its first five matches, Radford grabbed the doubles point.

The Wildcats' lone win came at the fourth spot, which was decided by a third set tiebreaker due to the match already being decided.

“Davidson is a very tough team to beat on its indoor courts. They have a good record at home and we were fortunate to come away with a victory.”

Radford will continue is stretch of 13-straight matches away from home to begin the 2009 slate with a 9 a.m. tilt against Columbia in Norfolk, Va., Saturday, Feb. 7.
