Women's Hoops Begin Second Half of Big South Play on Saturday at Gardner-Webb

Game Notes

Radford looks to get back on the winning track when it heads down to Gardner-Webb for a Saturday afternoon tilt with the Runnin' Bulldogs at 3 p.m. in Paul Porter Arena. The Highlanders will have a tough task ahead of themselves as the Runnin' Bulldogs are a perfect 8-0 at home this season. Radford, who is coming off an 80-38 defeat at first place Liberty on Monday, had its three-game winning streak snapped. Junior Kymesha Alston (Hampton, Va./Manhattan) paced Radford with a 16 points, six rebounds and three blocks.

Radford enters the second half of conference play in third place one game behind High Point and one game ahead of Coastal Carolina, Winthrop and UNC Asheville.

Gardner-Webb is also trying to get back in the win column after its four-game winning streak was ended at Coastal Carolina, 70-54, last Saturday. Dominique Hudson and LaTroya Pope each tallied a team-high 13 points for the Runnin' Bulldogs.

In the first meeting of the season, Radford won a high-scoring affair, 82-74, in the Highlanders' Big South opener in Peters Hall on Jan. 5. The Highlanders received a career-high 23 points from Alston and 21 points from senior Johnette Walker (Columbia, S.C./Irmo). Alston was 9-for-10 from the field as the Highlanders erased a four-point halftime deficit with a 51-point second half. Hudson paced GWU with 20 points.

Radford leads the series, 2-1 after the win earlier this season and has won its only game in Paul Porter Arena. They defeated the Bulldogs, 89-63 on Dec. 21, 2003.
