RADFORD, Va. – After playing its first 11 matches on the road, No. 47 Radford opened its home slate Saturday afternoon with an impressive 7-0 victory over Presbyterian in Big South men's tennis action at the Radford University Tennis Courts.

Winners of 20 of their last 21 conference matches, the Highlanders improve to 10-2 overall and 2-0 in league play. The Blue Hose fall 3-9 and 0-2.

For the ninth straight match, Radford grabbed an early 1-0 lead by winning the doubles point. Through 12 contests this season, the Highlanders have won the doubles point 11 times, while recording a 29-7 (.805) mark.

Radford's top duo of Martin Sayer (Hong Kong/Sagemont Virtual) and Zack Watson (Harrisonburg, Va./Eastern Mennonite) won their ninth consecutive with a convincing 8-2 decision over Matt Martin and Mike Nichol. Sayer and Watson, who entered the afternoon ranked 50th nationally, upped their record to 10-1.

Ivan Salec (Oroslavje, Croatia/Oroslavje Secondary) and Mehdi Benhammou (Rabat, Morocco/Descartes) improved to 8-3 on the year by clinching the doubles point for the Highlanders with an 8-3 win on court two.

Radford's freshman tandem of Igor Ogrizek (Daruvar, Croatia/Birotechnika Grammar) and Stefan Bojic (Novi Sad, Serbia) ran their winning streak to five straight with an 8-4 win over Andrew Lee and Brad Luciuk.

Both Sayer and Watson each claimed their 10th singles win of the season, while Salec and Ogrizek moved to 8-3 on the year with triumphs at positions two and five, respectively. Like the rest of the Highlanders, Bojic and Benhammou recorded straight-set victories.

Radford returns to action tomorrow afternoon in a 1 p.m. dual at UNC Asheville.
