Bailey, Woodson and Men’s Golf Card Season Lows in Final Round of Ironwood Intercollegiate

FINAL SCORES

GREENVILLE, N.C. – Highlighted by a pair of sub-par rounds, including a personal-best four-under 68 from Kyle Bailey (Fincastle, Va./James River), Radford fired a tournament-low 288 Sunday to finish 10th at the 2009 Ironwood Pirate Intercollegiate hosted by East Carolina University.

The 54-hole event was played on the Par 72, 7,076-yard Ironwood Golf and Country Club layout.

Joining Bailey in red figures Sunday afternoon was Paul Woodson (Powhatan, Va./Powhatan), who carded a season-low one-under 71 to finish tied for ninth with two others. Woodson concluded the three-day event at four-over 220 (76-73-71).

Bailey, who entered the final round in a tie for 71st, climbed 45 spots up the individual leaderboard thanks to the day's second lowest round. To go along with his third round of par or better this year, Bailey's 68 matched the lowest round by a Highlander competitor this season.

Brixton Albert (Lititz, Pa./Warwick) capped his collegiate debut with a four-over 76 to place tied for 64th, while Chris Dillow (Bland, Va./Bland) and Lane Hite (Clarksville, Va./Bluestone) finished tied for 66th and 77th, respectively.

Radford, which came into the final round 12 shots out of the top 10, saved its best for last carding its lowest round of the spring to finish with a 54-hole total of 908 (314-306-288)

The host Pirates held on to their 36-hole lead to win the team title by 10 strokes over UNC Wilmington, while Tim Driver of James Madison used a final-round seven-under 65 to claim individual medalist.

Joining the Highlanders in the 17-team field were Akron, Boston College, East Carolina, Furman, Georgetown, James Madison, Longwood, Navy, Newberry, Presbyterian, Rhode Island, St. John's, Samford, Seton Hall, UNC Wilmington and Wofford.

Radford will enjoy a 15-day break before returning to the course at the 2009 Big South Championship April 20-22 in Greenwood, S.C.
