The Highlanders suffered a 78-67 loss to High Point in their Big South home opener on Saturday afternoon in a game that saw the Panthers rally from a 15-point second half deficit.
The Eagles are also coming off their first league loss, falling at Liberty on Saturday night.
This will be the 58th meeting between two of the original Big South schools in a series that dates back to the 1984-85 season. The Highlanders hold a commanding 50-7 lead in the series, including 24-3 at home.
The teams split last year with the road team winning each contest. The Highlanders defeated the Eagles, 54-50 on Jan. 12, while Winthrop snapped a six-game losing streak in the series with a 63-49 win on Feb. 14.
Keyed by a 27-6 run and solid free throw shooting, High Point erased a 15-point second half deficit and went on to defeat Radford, 78-67, Saturday afternoon in Big South Conference action from the Dedmon Center.

Kymesha Alston (Hampton, Va./Manhattan) led all scorers with 21 points and she also pulled down a team-best seven rebounds.
Winthrop enters the contest after falling at Liberty, 67-38 on Saturday evening.
Shanice Cole is the lone Eagle in double figures, averaging 10.4 ppg and also leads them in rebounding at 7.3 boards per contest. Jessica Fansler adds 8.6 points per game. Defensively, the Eagles only allow 56.4 points per game and out rebound their opponents by 4.8 per contest.
Radford returns to action on Saturday, Jan. 16 hosting UNC Asheville at 3 p.m.
