RADFORD, Va. -- Radford looks to carry the momentum of its road win at Gardner-Webb into a four-game homestand that begins on Saturday, Jan. 9 at 3 p.m. when High Point comes to the Dedmon Center for a Big South contest.

For the second straight season, the Highlanders got off on the right foot, winning their Big South opener, 68-53, against the red hot Runnin' Bulldogs at Paul Porter Arena on Monday evening.
High Point, on a five-game winning streak, ventures on the road for the first time in conference play after winning its first two league contests at home against Charleston Southern and Coastal Carolina.
Radford faces High Point for the 28th time with the Panthers holding a 16-11 lead in the series. The teams split last season, winning on their respective home courts. The Highlanders have won four straight against the Panthers in the Dedmon Center after a 76-60 victory on Feb. 16 last season.
Behind an overall team effort and a career-high 18 points from freshman
Da'Naria Erwin Spencer (Charlotte N.C.), Radford stopped red-hot Gardner-Webb in its Big South opener Monday evening.
With the scored tied at 45-45, Radford closed out the final 7:30 of the game with a 23-8 run to win its sixth straight conference opener and 18th overall.
With its victory at Gardner-Webb, Radford has won sixth straight Big South openers and improved to 18-6 overall.
Freshman
Ashley Buckhannon (Wytheville, Va.), who has averaged 14.7 points per contest in Radford's last three games, was named Big South Freshman of the Week on Jan. 5.
High Point enters the contest on a five-game winning streak after defeating Charleston Southern and Coastal Carolina at home in its first two conference games of the season. The Panthers concluded the homestand with a 79-39 victory over the Chanticleers on Monday afternoon.
HPU's balanced scoring attack is paced by Shamia Brown and Amy Dodd who average 10 and 9.9 points per game. Eight players are averaging between 6.3 and 10 ppg. Brown is shooting 47.5 percent and pulling down 5.3 rebounds per contest.
As a team, the Panthers average 66.9 points per game and shoot 39.6 percent from the floor.
Radford continues its four-game homestand on Monday, Jan. 11 hosting Winthrop at 7 p.m.
