HIGH POINT, N.C. –
A combined 48 points from Art Parakhouski (Minsk, Belarus) and Joey Lynch-Flohr (Fairfax, Va./Fairfax) wasn't enough as High Point ended Radford's 11-game Big South road winning streak with an 83-77 triumph in front of a sold out Millis Center Saturday evening.

“We played well and did a lot of good things,” commented Radford head coach Brad Greenberg. “High Point just played a little better. They were very efficient on the offensive end and had a tremendous shooting night.”

Parakhouski, the reigning league Player of the Week, scored 29 points and pulled down 14 rebounds for his league-leading 11th double-double of the season. Lynch-Flohr made seven of his 10 tries from the floor to finish with 19 points and join his frontcourt mate as the lone Highlanders in double figures.

Nick Barbour and Eugene Harris led the Panthers with 23 and 20 points, respectively, while Jourdan Morris added 15 points in 22 minutes off the bench.

“Their backcourt played tremendous to offset our inside game.”

The first 20 minutes of action featured five ties and eight lead changes before High Point closed with six unanswered including a Harris three-pointer at the buzzer to take a 41-40 advantage into the locker room.

Parakhouski, who led all players at the break with 18 points on 8-of-10 shooting, capped off an 8-2 run with a jumper in the lane with 2:17 left to give the Highlanders a 37-31 lead, the largest by either team in the first half.

“We made two defensive mistakes late in the first half with a six point lead and lost control of the game at that point,” Greenberg said.

Radford (8-6, 4-1 Big South), which connected on 57.1 percent (16-28) of its attempts in the opening period, also got 13 points from Lynch-Flohr prior to intermission.

The Panthers raced out of the gates in the second half hitting their first five shots and using an 11-4 run to stretch the advantage to 52-44.

On several occasions Radford cut the deficit to a bucket, including 79-77 on an Evan Faulkner (Sandy Hook, Ky./Elliott Country) layup with 40 ticks remaining, but that's as close as it would get. The Panthers hit all four of their tries from the charity stripe in the last 19 seconds to remain unbeaten at home this season.

Despite its first league road setback since March 1, 2008 (at Liberty), Radford controlled the glass 43-25, including 18 offensive rebounds, which led to only nine second-chance points.

With six assists on the night, the Highlanders' Amir Johnson (Pittsburgh, Pa./Quaker Valley) became just the 10th player in Big South history to hit the 500-assist plateau.

High Point (8-6, 4-1) shot 56 percent in the second half to finish 51.8 percent for the contest, while the Highlanders closed with a 40.5 percent clip to shoot 47.7 percent overall. Along with their impressive shooting total in the final stanza, the Panthers were 12-of-16 from the line.

Radford will continue its three-game swing with a battle at first-place Coastal Carolina Thursday evening in Conway, S.C.
