VIDEO: VOLLEYBALL FALLS TO UNC ASHEVILLE, 3-1

RADFORD, Va
. – Radford fell to UNC Asheville, 3-1 (25-14, 13-25, 25-16, 25-17), in Big South volleyball action Friday evening at the Dedmon Center.
 
The loss drops the Highlanders to 6-11 overall and 0-3 in the league, while the Bulldogs improve to 10-6 and 3-0.
 
Senior Laura Waddell led Radford with 12 kills (.226) followed by Carly Fleming with an 11-kill (.290) performance.
 
Freshmen Emily Carlin and Jesse Miedema both tallied nine kills, while Desiree Aramburu recorded 44 assists and 14 digs for her fifth double-double of the season.

Defensively, the Highlanders' Storm Melnick led all players with 23 digs.
 
Though they only had 39 kills as a team, the Bulldogs charted an impressive 14.5 total team blocks while holding Radford to a .067 hitting percentage.
 
In game one, Asheville raced out to 11-4 advantage and stretched it to as many as 13 on separate occasions before taking the opener 25-14. As a team, the Bulldogs connected on .300 of their attempts while holding Radford to .023.
 
In addition to finding the floor with 14 of their attempts in the second game, Radford opened the frame on a 14-6 run and never looked back. Carlin and Waddell led the way with four kills each for the Highlanders, who took game two 25-13.
 
Despite just nine kills in the third, Asheville limited the Highlanders to a negative hitting percentage en route to a 25-16 decision.

Like games one and three, the Bulldogs put the Highlanders in an early deficit and never relinquished the lead.

Radford will travel to Lynchburg, Va. to take on conference foe Liberty, Tuesday at 7 p.m.  UNC Asheville will travel to High Point tomorrow.
