VIDEO: WOMEN’S BASKETBALL TABBED SIXTH IN BIG SOUTH PRESEASON POLL

CHARLOTTE, N.C. –
Radford women's basketball was tabbed sixth in the Big South preseason poll, announced Tuesday afternoon at Renaissance Suites Hotel as part of the 2010-11 Basketball Tip-Off Media Luncheon.

The Highlanders, under third-year head coach Tajama Abraham Ngongba, received 75 points in a vote by the League's head coaches and media panel.

Liberty was announced as the Big South favorite for the 13th time in 14 seasons and received 13 first-place votes and 172 total points overall. Last year's regular season champion, Gardner-Webb, was voted second with 163 points and collected the remaining first place votes.

High Point was picked third with 128 points, just ahead of No. 4 Charleston Southern (121 points), followed by Coastal Carolina with 98 points. After Radford, Winthrop (69 points), UNC Asheville (43 points) and Presbyterian (33 points) round out the poll.

Radford, which returns three starters and 11 total players, opens the regular season hosting Ferrum at home on Nov. 15.
