MEN’S GOLF FINISHES STRONG AT ODU/OBX INTERCOLLEGIATE


FINAL RESULTS

POWELLS POINT, N.C. –
The Radford men's golf team fired a third round 282 (-6) to record a fifth-place showing at the inaugural ODU/Outerbanks Intercollegiate on Tuesday.

The Highlanders (287-296-282=865) had four out of five golfers record scores of even-par or lower in the final round and jumped four spots up the team leaderboard from the second round to tally its second-best performance of the fall.

"It was a real team effort this week and I was extremely proud of how the guys stepped it up today," said head coach Mike Grant.

Redshirt-sophomore Weston Eklund carded a three-under 213 for his third consecutive Top-10 finish, tying for ninth in a 95-player field.

The most consistent play for the Highlanders in the three-day event came from junior Michael Wade, who finished one-under par and tied for 17th. He played even-par 72 golf the first two rounds before shooting a one-under 71 in the third round.

Freshman Matt Harman wrapped up his second tournament of the fall by shooting a personal-best 68 (-4), bettering his previous low round by six strokes to finish tied for 37th. He birdied three holes on the back nine for his strong finish.

Joining Harman in 37th place was sophomore Wade Wawner who tallied an even-par 72 and finished at five-over 221.

Radford will conclude the fall schedule when it travels to the Sapphire Valley Country Club in Cashiers, N.C. to take part in the Hummingbird Invitational, Nov. 1-2.
