LYNCHBURG, Va. – Despite a 12-kill performance from senior
Laura Waddell, the Radford volleyball team fell to current Big South leader, Liberty, 3-0 (25-18, 25-13, 25-15), at the Vines Center Tuesday night.
The loss drops the Highlanders to 6-12 and 0-4 in the league, while the Flames improve to 14-7 and 5-1.
To go along with Waddell's double-figures, sophomore
Desiree Aramburu recorded 27 assists, while freshman Storm Melnick tallied 11 digs, defensively.
As a team, Radford struggled finding the floor with just 28 kills and a .140 hitting percentage, while Liberty put down 45 kills and just 11 errors (.362).
The first set featured eight ties and three lead changes before the Flames went on a 6-1 run late to secure the victory, 25-18.
In the second set, Liberty jumped out to a 10-5 lead and didn't allow Radford closer than four the rest of the way.
Like the second set, Liberty came out strong to secure the victory, 25-15.
The Highlanders will return to the Dedmon Center Friday to take on conference-foe, Presbyterian at 7 p.m.
