VOLLEYBALL SET TO HOST COASTAL CAROLINA ON “SENIOR NIGHT”

LIVE STATS

RADFORD, Va. –
The Radford volleyball team will conclude their 2010 regular season with a 7 p.m. “Senior Night” match against Coastal Carolina Friday night at the Dedmon Center.

Prior to the contest, the Highlander Volleyball Program and Department of Athletics will recognize seniors Kiley Kent, Caroline Ratterree and Laura Waddell for their contributions both on and off the court.

Kent has spent time as both a defensive specialist and setter for the Highlanders. The all-time leader in service aces for Radford will finish her career with more than 170 service aces, 1,300 assists, and 880 digs. Kent leads the team and conference in service aces this season with 40. Twice during her four-year career, Kiley has earned a spot on an all-tournament team, including the 2009 Bucknell Invitational All-Tournament team when she tallied six kills, 37 assists and six digs in a 3-1 victory over Bucknell. Off the court, Kent has excelled in the classroom earning RU's Dean's List and Big South Presidential Honor Roll every semester. She is also a member of Radford's Student-Athlete Advisory Council

A transfer from Northeastern Junior College in 2009, Ratterree sits second on the squad in total blocks with 35. She has recorded three or more blocks in eight separate occasions this season, including four blocks and a season-high eight kills on a .353 hitting percentage against College of Charleston. As a junior, Ratterree put down a career-high 10 kills in Radford's come-from-behind 3-2 victory over Loyola. Off the court, Caroline was recently awarded a 2010 SunTrust Foundation Centennial Scholar.

After being named to the Atlantic Sun All-Freshman Squad at East Tennessee State, Waddell transferred to Radford after the 2007 season. Waddell will finish her career with over 1,000 kills, 80 blocks and a .175 hitting percentage. In Radford's October 30th match against UNC Asheville, Waddell picked up her 1000th career kill. This season she has a total of 11 double-figure kill performances, including a season-high 17 in RU's win over Gardner-Webb. Off the court, Waddell was named to the 2009 Big South All-Academic Team with a 3.83 GPA. She is also a member of Phi Kappa Phi and Fundraiser Chair on Phi Sigma Pi.

“We are very grateful for everything Laura, Kiley and Caroline have done for this program over the past few years,” commented third-year head coach Marci Jenkins. “All three carry over a 3.5 GPA in the classroom and have been great teammates and ambassadress for the volleyball program. We wish them the best of luck as they move onto the next chapters in their lives.”

Following Radford's regular season finale, the Highlanders will travel to Rock Hill, S.C. for the 2010 Big South Volleyball Tournament Nov. 18-20 hosted by Winthrop.
