RADFORD HEADS TO NATION'S CAPITAL TO FACE HOWARD

GAME NOTES | LIVE AUDIO

RADFORD, Va. -- Coming off a season-opening victory over Ferrum, Radford women's basketball heads to our nation's capital to do battle with Howard on Thursday, Nov. 18 at 7 p.m. The Highlanders' contest against the Bison in Burr Gymnasium begins a three-game road stretch.

In its season opener, Radford used a strong first half to build a 35-13 halftime lead and defeat Ferrum, 55-38, Monday evening from the Dedmon Center.

Radford forced 17 turnovers and Kaylyn Crosier tallied 11 of her team-high 13 points, as the Highlanders raced out to their big halftime advantage. In all, seven Highlanders pitched into the scoring column and 14 of RU's 35 points came off Ferrum miscues.

The Panthers came out firing in the second half and cut the Highlanders' lead to 13 early and got within 10 with just under four minutes to play. However, Radford hit three straight shots to end any comeback bid and earn the 17-point win.

Crosier and sophomore Victoria Hamilton hit double figures with 13 and 11 points, respectively. Crosier tied three other teammates with six rebounds as Radford held a 48-38 advantage on the glass.

The Highlanders and Bison meet for the second straight season which also marks their second all-time matchup. Last season, Howard rallied from a double figure deficit in the Dedmon Center and edged Radford, 44-39 on Nov. 29, 2009.

Howard dropped its first two games of the season on the road at Buffalo and Vanderbilt. Saadia Doyle is averaging 26 points and 12.5 rebounds in the Bison's first two contests. She dropped in a game-high 30 points at Vanderbilt which was a follow up to her 22-point, 17-rebound performance in the season opener at Buffalo.

Radford, which will play eight of its next 10 on the road, continue the trek away from the Dedmon Center on Sunday, Nov. 21 when it heads to Pittsburgh for a 2 p.m. contest.
